Welcome!
I’m Tracy Conti Potash or just, TCP for short, and I profess to be a lover of turtles even though they are reptiles – crazy cats, playful dogs, and galloping horses too. They are all on my top ten list. Potatoes are a serious addiction of mine, and I gobble up dark chocolate like there is no tomorrow! I adore snowglobes, and I’m a huge fan of random acts of kindness. I absolutely delight in creating things whether it’s a delectable dish or an empty room that requires a serious swish. Turning nothing into something is my ultimate wish. Seriously though, my all-time favorite nothings to some things are when I can turn those swirling, whirling ideas in my head and create a fabulous something for children. I especially L-O-V-E writing! There’s something incredibly intoxicating when you combine a fabulous picture book, the oohs and ahs uttered by children, and dare I say… belly laughs and giggles. Life just doesn’t get any more perfect than this! Nature is my usual go-to place when I want to be inspired, but I find inspiration all around me and sometimes in the most surprising places.
When I’m not playing referee to my perfect pets and all the chaos they create in my home, I’m creating my own sort of chaos in my classroom. Organized, writing chaos that is. You see, I educate young middle school minds in all that is language arts-related and other particularly pressing matters that are entertained in the mind of a terrific tween. Oh yes, the school days are filled with lots of – do nows, must-haves, must we, complete this, I’m done, can we please, and Huh- what? “Practice what you preach,” is my motto, so on any given day when I’m instructing students about the writing process, I always do what any good writer does, I share; I share my process and my finished product. Now that’s motivating and my students recognize that ordinary people, even tweens and teachers with the appropriate tools, inspiration, and perspiration can perhaps write extraordinary works. Life is a dance, so never stop dreaming or believing, and keep on making the magic because you just never know whose dream you may inspire next.
